About Kendall

Kendall has been eating and preparing raw foods for over 2 years. She had experimented with raw foods for 2 years previous, has been vegan for 5 years and vegetarian since the age of 12 (13 years).

Kendall discovered raw foods through her mom while in college. She was attracted to veganism because of dairy allergies, but continued to be plagued by allergy symptoms (although milder, chronic sinus infections) after eliminating dairy. She converted to 100% raw foods for 3 months in 2003, alleviating many mild ailments (dry scalp, menstrual cramps and sinus headaches). She went back to a vegan (junk food) diet while traveling for a month, and did not return completely to raw foods until early 2006. She spent this time searching for other things to make her feel as good as eating raw did, but did not find anything! She maintained a 100% raw diet for a year, and a 50-100% raw diet to present.

Although she currently struggles to balance her social life and eating preferences, Kendall prefers raw foods to cooked foods, and renews her conviction daily as she becomes more comfortable with this way of eating. She started blogging and building her raw lifestyle website (rawamericanlife.com) in Spring of 2007 as a motivation to maintain the lifestyle she knows works best for her body. She believes that preparing and eating raw and living foods presents an alternative, attractive and challenging lifestyle, which is on track to explode in popularity in the near future.

Because she is motivated by reading and research, Kendall has read over 30 raw recipe and inspiration books. In December of 2007, she attended a two-week living foods training at the Ann Wigmore Natural Health Institute in Puerto Rico. She hopes to do more raw chef and nutrition training in the future.

Kendall has a B.A. in the Comparative History of Ideas from the University of Washington (Seattle), and an M.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Washington (Tacoma). She teaches Suzuki violin and piano full time in Tacoma, Washington.
